On 29 January 2024, I saw an online job where you bought virtual goods and then got paid a commission. They would refund the purchase price and pay a commission so that they could have favour with the algorithm. I did 5 simple tasks and earned approximately R 150.00 commission. I then withdrew R 200.00 from my account, paying a service fee of R20.00. I was prepared to lose R 100.00. After this transaction I thought they were legitimate and then continued with the process. They demanded more and more money, I asked questions how to get out of the deal. They said I was almost there, that I mustn't give up. Then I realised that it was a scam. But too late for me. I should have been more alert. I effectively lost R 5 140.00.
