Ok so the backstory is that My kid got admission in a university in state A so i decided to give my house in state B for rent and rotate that money for the rent in house in state A.
I uploaded the pictures of my house which is a 3bhk in few online websites and this one guy dmed me, saying that he was interested in my house. He said he was a 24 year old Indian Army Subedar (rank of junior commissioned officer in Indian Army) with a family of three posted in State C and that he was transferred to State B airport. He literally sent me all his identity cards (like aadhar card and pan card) and his military canteen smart card. Everything seemed valid and smooth and i even drafted a rental agreement but all started to seem suspicious when he sent this message (screenshot 1 posted above) and asked me to add his account in IMobilePay so that his 'Military Team' could transfer the security deposit. Now any normal human who does online payments knows that you don't need to add someone's bank for them to transfer funds. I started to suspect everything. I called a friend of mine who is a an army official and he was like " i have never heard of Army Merchant Reverse in my entire 15 years experience and no one is allowed to send their Canteen Smart Card pics. Besides, who told you he is a Subedar when his card clearly states that he is a Sapper" (in my defence, it only said SPR and i don't know Army language and Sapper happens to be a someone of a lower rank compared to Subedar). All this time i was getting back to back calls and messages from himself and his "senior official", texting me to send them a screenshot after adding the account. I was confused and i didn't know what to do. So i googled the word "Army Merchant Reverse" and boy i was scared (screenshot 2 posted). I read the whole post and realised that this guy said the same shit to me I realised that I almost got scammed I checked the IFSC code of the account details he sent and that showed some other state, not what he mentioned. The next time he called, i attended the call and was like " Listen, I wanted to discuss something regarding the bank account details you sent. I am a bank employee of the bank you mentioned but i have never heard of any Army account like that before. So lets do one thing, you said you are coming to state B next week, right? Lets discuss in person and sign the contract. You can pay me the deposit later." I assume he didn't expect me to say this because he didn't say anything but "okay" and hung up the call.
